Barnraiser!
We raised the roof on September 19th to celebrate the completion of the new Elizabeth W. Chilton Education Center, a.k.a., "the barn," and to thank our many donors including Richard L. Chilton, Jr., The Darien Foundation, and the McPherson family (descendants of the Mathers).
The new “barn” will house lectures, school groups, art exhibits and more, enabling us to reach our vision of becoming a preeminent center for historical education in Fairfield County.
The event was "picnic style" with ...
Boxed appetizers, dinner and dessert from TOASTs
Live Music by "Sweet Colleen & the Poor Excuses" (bluegrass band!)
Exhibit of artwork by local artists created during our June "Plein Air" week
Exhibit of Mather Homestead artifacts curated by Docent Donn Smith
"The Story of the Homestead" -- video featuring Docent Gordon Hastings and Mather dependants Jane and Anne McPherson.
plus tours of the Homestead
Based on the success of this event, we plan to do it again in 2021 so stay tuned for date!

THANK YOU
to our generous barn donors!
