About the event

Charles Ludington is a wine historian, university history professor, and general editor of the Bloomsbury Cultural History of Wine, a six-volume encyclopedia of wine history (2025 publication). He is focused on how wines developed into their modern-day forms and how this was influenced by soil, weather, geography, tradition, technical know-how, taxation, foreign policy, fashion, and even gender.

This talk will focus on Colonial America and include tastings of bordeaux and madeira wines which were popular at the time (and still tasty today!). We'll have fun sipping, listening to Charles and eating delicious food pairings by Fine & Dandy.
