About the event
Our topic for 2025: Why is it important to celebrate America250?
Additional considerations: How do you think The Mather Homestead and the town of Darien should celebrate America250?
From the America250 website: America250's mission is to celebrate and commemorate the 250th aninversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, marking America's Semiquincentennial.
Open to students in grades 5 to 8.
500 words maximum.
1 winner per grade.
Essays will be evaluated on the following criteria:
- Essay demonstrates an understanding of the topic and compelling answer.
- Essay is well written with proper punctuation and grammar.
- Essay shows a personal perspective and interest in the topic.
-Essay shows no hint of AI!
