About the event

The Mather Homestead is honored to welcome Dayton Duncan to the Elizabeth W. Chilton Education Center.  Duncan is an award-winning writer and documentary filmmaker.  He wrote the series "The National Parks:  America's Best Idea" which he produced with Ken Burns.  This six-episode series won two Emmy awards - for outstanding nonfiction series and outstanding writing for nonfiction programming. It tells "the story of an idea as uniquely American as the Declaration of Independence and just as radical:  that the most special places in the nation should be preserved, not for royalty or the rich, but for everyone."  The third episode pays particular tribute to Stephen Tyng Mather, the first Director of the National Park Service.

Books will be available for sale through Barrett Bookstore - please support your local book store!

This is most certainly a Mather-Don't Miss event!  Limited to 70.
